Saw palmetto (Sabal serrulata or Serenoa repens ) is a dwarf palm from which the fruit is used to prepare the dye. Decongestant effect is used primarily to diseases of the prostate, bladder and cystitis .

Benign prostate enlargement or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH ) is the most common urological disease in men. With age, more than half of men over age 50 are affected by cell proliferation in the prostate that determines said thickening. since studies , 90% of men over 65 have BPH , although clinical disorders are manifested only in half of those affected. Clinical symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia are characterized by the following four phases :
Phase I : Phase or preliminary stage
Prostate enlargement , but micturition disorders , or existence of residual urine
- FaseII : irritative Stadium
Prostate enlargement with irritative voiding problems .
- Phase III : Stage of residual urine
Prostate enlargement with irritative voiding problems and existence of residual urine.
- Phase IV : Stage of decompensation
